Education: Graduate of the Lebanese
University.
Professional Background: Member of the Syrian
National Socialist Party since 1968. Held a number of Party posts, leading among which was
Secretary of Defense (1980-1984).
Current Political Status:
Minsiter of Labor, Parliament Member.
Political Career: Elected deputy in October 1992, reelected in 1996 and
2000. Minister of State in Omar Karami government (December 24,1990 - October 31,1992).
Minister of Labor in Rafic Hariri's second government (May 25, 1995 - Novemebr 6, 1996).
Minister of Labor in Hariri third government (Novemver 7, 1996-December 3, 1998). Minister
of Labor in Hariri's fifth Government (April 17, 2003 - October 26, 2004).
